Although our time together was short, it was fun.
1982 Toyota Corolla TE70
Bought it for $300 with a broken mechanical fuel pump. Strap towed it all the way home. Threw in an electric fuel pump and a regulator and got it going.
Drove it around for a little while, while collecting parts for a manual swap, suspension etc. Unfortunately it was totaled by a drunk shopping cart, but i got paid out $3.5k by insurance.
The day I bought the car and we flat towed it back to my house.
Ripped out the busted mechanical fuel pump then plumbed and wired in an electrical fuel pump with a manual fuel pressure regulator. Car started right up once that was all sorted. Never had any issues with it after that.
The body was pretty beat but the interior was mint. I had big plans for it do be my first drift car as I was a huge fan of Mitsumori-san's battle AE70 Corolla.
Other inspirations were Kenny's Green wagon, and the clapped out Motorfix wagon and many others in Japan.
So I wasn't really planning to do much body work to it as it honestly didn't have any rust other than where the drivers side rear quarter was dented and the ratty look proved to be cool slammed on good wheels. The plan was a quad light front end swap, 4ag and manual transmission swap, coilovers, good 13/14 inch wheels, modified knuckles/LCA and T3 stuff for the rear, a bucket seat, steering wheel and a cage.
I traded a set of tires for Ein's old Konig Rewinds off of his AE86 as temporary wheels to make the car a little cooler.
Ended up having to rebuild a brake caliper that seized and ordered T3 adjustable 4-link. Never ended up installing the 4-link though.
I picked up a clutch pedal for the future manual swap from Matty and got to take a good look at his e70 he was building.
I had met Matty through my friend Brice who was also building his 1uz swapped e70 corolla.
Put on some cheap eBay fender mirror's.
Then a drunk driver rear ended a chain of 4 cars with me at the front of it and a Toyota Tacoma behind me. surprisingly the lights still works and the trunk could still open and close fine haha. I drove it around like this for a while but ultimately insurance deemed it totalled and paid me out for it. Luckily there were some listed on craigslist for $4-5k at the time and I got paid out $3500 by insurance.
Although it was short lived, I had a fun time with this car. I would love to actually build one in the future and drive the living hell out of it. Maybe one day.
